IAN F. THOMAS

Ian F. Thomas is Chairman of Thomas Consultants Inc.. Formed in 1979, the firm specializes in the planning and development of large scale shopping centres around the world where it has worked in over 70 countries on many of the world’s largest and most successful malls. He has authored award-winning articles and is constantly sought after by the media and leading universities. As an industry pioneer , he laid the seeds for the mall industry in emerging countries such as China , Russia , Brazil , India , UAE  etc .

Ian Thomas sat on the Board of Trustees  of ICSC in New York and also the Foundation.
In addition, he chaired ICSC ‘s Design and Development Awards  Program . In 1989, he started the Whistler Winter conference which generates annually over 2500 delegates. 
In addition , he also sat on other Boards including Future Shop , City Express . com ,  Coast Appliances , Downtown Parking Corporation ,Alchemy Realty Corporation ,  Urban Development Institute, Vancouver Opera .

Born in Sydney Australia he was transferred to Toronto Canada  in 1971 with a large engineering consulting firm . In 1975 he joined a specialist consulting firm in Retail development where he was transferred to Vancouver and lives there today . He is a CPA and graduate of York University .

At its prime the firm had offices in Singapore, New Delhi , Seoul , Toronto , Sydney and the Gold Coast . The firm merged with Deloitte in 2017 .
